Field day for robbers, carjackers in Pindi

Armed men snatch Rs1.5m; man dies in road accident.

Robbers and carjackers had a field day in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, depriving people of vehicles, cash and valuables in multiple incidents.


The first incident was reported in the Banni area, where three robbers deprived a man of Rs1.5 million. According to the police, Muhammad Ishtiaq was on his way home from a bank when the robbers on motorbikes stopped him and fled after snatching the cash from him.

In another incident, Syed Intizar Hussain told the Airport police that him and his friend were sitting outside a plaza in Chaklala Scheme III when they were intercepted by two gunmen who snatched Rs60,000, two mobile phones and a laptop from them.

Ajmal Khan told the Civil Lines police that his car (RIG-4857) had been stolen from outside his house in Lalazar, while Alam Khan told the Banni police that his vehicle (AJJ-820) had also been stolen.

In addition, Sajjad Hussain lodged a report with the Sadiqabad police that thieves had taken away his motorbike (RLE-9282) from Kurri Road, while Moinuddin told the Banni police that his motorbike (RIL) had been lifted.

Separately, a man was killed in a road accident on Motorway. According to National Highways and Motorway Police, the deceased, identified as Ramazan, was injured after his car accidentally hit a police vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital but he died before he could get help.
