According to the report, security sources have said that services were blocked to cut off communication capabilities of “miscreants and terrorists”.
Residents of the city and surrounding areas were reported to be facing hardships after services had been suspended early Tuesday.
The provincial government has also taken strict security measures to maintain law and order. The report states that Balochistan Constabulary and Frontier Corps personnel have been deployed at sensitive sites and government buildings in the city.
The provincial government had earlier shut down cellular services on March 23 (Pakistan Day) this year. Officials had then also claimed that the action had been taken to keep a check on militants in the province.
Bomb blasts and attacks on security personnel and civilians are frequent in province. At least 12 people had been wounded in a blast near a restaurant where people had gathered to celebrate Independence Day in Quetta late Monday night.

@Acid: Slaves of others want to liberate me. No way. I am not the slave of few fuedals. They should first earn two square meals with honour rather than begging in London and Switzerland.
Kashmiris mark Indian independence day as "black day". Al Jazeera: http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia/2011/08/201181512056925860.html

@A J Khan: Not terrorists...Freedom fighters
@Gurbir Singh: write your real name. dont be ashamed of your nationality
Wow i didn't know that they can block mobile services like that. Well it must be for a good reason though.
Free and Friendly Balochistan is in better for remaining Pakistan
@Khan: Khalistan and Aasam? Never touched a newspaper since 1990 A.D. did you?
When we make friendship with so why not make friendship with our Baloch Brothers
@Raw is War.: Kashmir will be free soon and so will be arunachal.
Soon Kashmir and Khalistan will be free.
Mobile phones are the biggest source of communorication for the terrorists. Mobile phone should be shut for an year to over come the problem of instant messaging and information. Authorities should close this misused facility to starve the terrorists of the communication facility. It will help a lot in controlling Law and Order.
Awans: Please quote some credible reference for 'Qauid e Azam was an Ismaili and later changed to shia". I'd like to read that. You can stop worrying about future map of Pakistan, had it been so easy, Sri Lanka would have a different map today after decades of terrorist activities by LTTE. Depression is often accompanied by paranoia and sometimes psychosis.
No doubt Express Tribune provides the best platform to Indians to lash out their hatred against Pakistan.
@Raw is War.: Insha'Allah!
security sources have said that services were blocked to cut off communication capabilities of “miscreants and terrorists”. ................... The truth is religion does not make countries otherwise there would have been one each Christian Land, Muslim Land and Hindu Land etc and not so many christian and muslim countries.
It's also Black day for us too. We migrated here with good hope and left everything. But again we don't have acceptance in Pakistan. We regret for supporting partition
Tomorrow, Kashmiris will celebrate Indian independence day as their black day. The irony, she burns.
i see indians are very interested ... Shame on u .. Go think abt aasam, khalistan n kashmir inshaAllah very soon
baloch people are celebrating this day as a black day.we will never forget the mutilated bodies of our brothers.
@Raw is war: So will Kashmir :)
This is a gift to the people of Balochistan on independence day. In Balochistan Independence day is being celebrated in few places under strict security of Forces. Still everything is fine? As one Ignorant person commented that kill and arrest all those who are creating Law and order situation, this is what being done in Balochistan since 65 years and still only cantonments are safe for celebrations? Its time to think they failed strategy, its time to give Baloch their due rights of Ruling their Province. Its already too late but still a lot can be done....
And they say why Baloch don't celebrate our Independence Day
Satellite phones any one?
not a good idea.people suffer by this and BLA wins people sympathy
Arrest and hang those terrorists who are targeting civilians and creating law and order problems in Balochistan, but please don't infringe our rights.
they will have their own independence day, soon.
@Muslim: we shouldnot take any risk by sectarian lashkars
and then they say "Kashmir does not have human rights"
