Golf: Eight book US Ryder Cup spots

The eight automatic qualifiers for the US team for the Ryder Cup were finalised after the USPGA Championship ended, according to ESPN.

Tiger Wood and Phil Mickelson were included along with Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson, who were both crowned major champions recently. Woods scored the most points in the 12-month qualification process and topped captain Davis Love’s team.

Watson, Jason Dufner and Keegan Bradley followed Woods with small margins on the list. The final two names on the initial list are Matt Kuchar and Zach Johnson, ensuring that the team boasts of experienced campaigners for the Ryder Cup.
