Tamim, Kamran blast Wayamba to huge win

Whirlwind innings from Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal and Pakistan wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal helped Wayamba United to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Uthura Rudras in the Sri Lankan Premier League.

After Pakistan opener Imran Farhat’s 22-ball 51 had helped Uthura to a competitive 179 for seven in the allotted 20 overs, Tamim and Kamran made easy work with the pair putting on a superb 176 for the opening wicket.

Kamran’s wicket, after he had made 79 off just 55 balls, and a couple of dot balls caused a few anxious moments but Tamim finished off the match in style. The left-hander hit his sixth maximum of the game to end the game with four balls to spare.

In another match on Saturday, Basnahira Cricket Dundee beat Kandurata Warriors by 34 runs in a rain-affected encounter.
