HYDERABAD:

Prison authorities shifted 29 inmates from Karachi Central Jail to Hyderabad Central Jail on Wednesday.

They said that the men were moved because of construction work at Karachi jail. Sources said that authorities had conducted a search operation of certain cells, including that of Sheikh Omar’s, who was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl.

According to DIG Jail Gulzar Channa, 27 out of the 29 inmates were currently under trial. He added that they had been jailed because of personal enmities and there was minimum risk involved in shifting them.
