Water accident: 24 buffaloes drown in pond

As many as 24 buffaloes drowned on Tuesday while bathing in a pond in Gujrat.

GUJRAT: As many as 24 buffaloes drowned on Tuesday while bathing in a pond in Gujrat. The incident occurred in a nearby Kalrah Panwan village when Lal Khan, the owner of the buffaloes, took 30 of them for a bath. He said while six of the animals survived, the rest got caught in underwater foliage and drowned. Residents of the nearby houses gathered at the scene on hearing Khan shout for help. Rescue officials were called but did not reach on time. The six buffaloes were pulled out with help from some locals, while the search for the remaining continued till the filing of this report. Khan estimated the loss at hundreds of thousands of rupees.
