Police on Sunday registered a case against five JK Agri Farm workers who are accused of negligence leading to the death of eight buffaloes.
The buffaloes were owned by Bashir and Sharifan Mai, residents of Kacha Dehi near Ihsanpur.
Bashir said, “The workers and supervisor had put pesticide in the tubewell water outlet to sugarcane crop. However, some of the water with pesticide remained behind.”
He said their buffaloes drank the poisoned water and died. He said they had met farm managers Nazeer Khan Gopang and Hafiz Bashir who offered Rs300,000 compensation.
“We do not think that is enough. We think a full compensation will come to around Rs1,200,000,” he said. Abadpur Investigation Officer Malik Riaz said a case had been registered against Muhammad Ibrahim, Basheer Ahmad, Siraj Ahmad, Sadique Ahmad and an unidentified man.
