Street crime: 2 die in botched robbery

Men were taking Rs3.5 million to be deposited in the bank.

LAHORE: Two men were shot dead on Monday and two others were injured after three men tried to loot cash that was being taken to be deposited at a bank in Sanda. Police said three employees of Madina Traders identified as Samdani Butt, Muhammad Zaman and cashier Mubashir, were taking Rs3.5 million to be deposited in the bank. They were stopped by three armed men riding a black car and told to hand over the cash. They refused and were shot at. Gun man Muhammad Zaman fired back. Butt and one of the robbers were shot and died on the spot. Zaman and Mubashir were also injured. Two robbers fled the scene. The injured men were taken to a hospital and were later reported to be out of danger.
