Increased Vigilance: Policing project to be launched

KARACHI: In order to create a liaison between citizens and the police, neighbourhood watch programmes would be initiated across multiple residential and commercial areas in the city, decided Sindh IG Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari during a meeting on Saturday. The programme would help improve surveillance of activities in areas and allow authorities to be vigilant about the location of suspected criminals. “The purpose of the programme is to control crimes with cooperation and participation by the community,” said Leghari. He added that the police department is working on devising a proper strategy for the programme.
