A court granted bail before arrest to a robbery suspect confined at the Malir jail.
The counsel for the applicant accused had contended that Tahir was implicated in a false case as the police had arrested him on the statement of another man, Haider Ali, who was already detained in the case.
According to the case file, three robbers had intercepted a vehicle and snatched Rs60,000 and mobile phones from two occupants.
Later, suspect Ali was arrested from a shop with the snatched mobile phone.
He was also identified in another robbery case (227/12) in which he along with three accomplices had robbed a shop in Bhains Colony. Bangash said that nothing was recovered from Tahir and the complainant, Zahoor Ahmed, and witnesses had identified him at the time of arrest in a police mobile van but the identification parade was not held before a magistrate.
Deputy district public prosecutor, Mohib Ali Lund, said that sufficient evidence was not available to accuse Tahir of the crime; therefore, he endorses the bail application. The additional district and sessions judge, Iqbal Muhammad Khawaja, allowed the bail application on a solvent surety of Rs50,000.
