Daska City police registered a case against two sub inspectors Farhat Nawaz Ahad Hussain and an assistant sub inspector (ASI) Samiullah for extorting Rs390,000 from Muhammad Rizwan.
Rizwan was trying to recover money he had lent to Muhammad Amjad with interest.
According to police officials Amjad was willing to return the money with interest but the police officials demanded a cut from Rizwan for helping him recover the money. “I was willing to return the money but I needed more time to come up with the interest,” Amjad said, adding that Rizwan brought the police officials to threaten him.
“I had borrowed the money for my mother’s operation and was returning it,” Amjad said. The police have also registered a case against the applicant Muhammad Rizwan for ‘misusing’ his police contacts by asking the accused officials to help him recover his money.
An FIR has been lodged by inquiry officer Muhammad Saeed under Sections 162, 163 PPC, 5/2/47 Anti Corruption Act and 3/4, 2/2007 Anti-interest
Act. The FIR revealed that during the high-level inquiry, the above mentioned police officials were found guilty. It was further stated that sub inspectors Farhat Nawaz, Ahad Hussain and ASI Samiullah had extorted Rs390,000 in bribes from the petitioner Muhammad Rizwan.
