Zulqarnain vows a quick comeback

LAHORE: Pakistan’s injured number-two wicket-keeper Zulqanain Haider has vowed to stage a strong comeback after recovering from his finger injury that forced his return from England.

Haider, who made his Test debut in the second Test against England at Edgbaston, scored a 0 and 88 in Pakistan’s nine-wicket loss.

“I was advised rest for two weeks and will be available for selection after that,” said Haider after his return from England. “I’m thankful to the selectors for giving me this opportunity to prove myself and am very satisfied with my performance.”

“My injury was aggravated due to Stuart Broad’s throw but due to the good relations between the two boards, I opted not to protest or complain against his act and show good spirit.”

Haider also lauded the use of technology as he benefited from the Decision Review System twice while narrowly avoiding becoming only the second Test debutant to bag a king pair.

“It was tough time in the middle as I was playing my first innings. Everything was happening very fast but in the second innings I kept my cool and quickly realised that ball was turning too much and would’ve missed leg so I took up the chance to review.”
