Cricket: Fazal’s ton inspires win

Helped Northern Gymkhana to a trilling six-run win against Al Haj Peshawar.

KARACHI: Fazal Subhan scored the first century of the 17th Dr MA Shah Night Trophy as his innings helped Northern Gymkhana to a trilling six-run win against Al Haj Peshawar. Batting first, Gymkhana posted 173 for four as Subhan scored an unbeaten 103 off 62 balls with the help of four sixes and 10 boundaries. In reply, Al Haj fought gallantly but ended up short in their quest, finishing with 167 for nine. Abdul Aziz top-scored with 41 while Samar Gul scored 39. Left-arm spinner Fawad Khan bowled well to capture four crucial wickets. Meanwhile, off-spinner Razaul Hasan bagged a five-for to guide Orangi United to a massive 127-run win against High Court CC in the Omar Associates Ramzan Cricket League. Set a daunting target of 212 in 20 overs to gain maximum points, High Court CC perished on 84 in 16.5 overs to give Orangi United a huge win.
