Sexual assault suspect remanded

A man, arrested for sexually assaulting a four-year-old child, was sent to jail on Sunday.


The child, meanwhile, died at Allied Hospital. Dr Muhammad Ismael, who treated the child, said he had been sexually assaulted.

The child was found lying unconscious in a field near his house on July 19 by a passer by, Mohsin Ali. He had gone missing from in front of his house some hours ago.

SHO Ilyas Beg told The Express Tribune that the suspect had admitted to several crimes during questioning after his arrest on Saturday.

The suspect, a resident of Chak 426-RB Khudanwala, was tracked down by the child’s father and some of his neighbours by probing  people near the spot where his was earlier found.

Child assaulted ‘by two cousins’ 

Jaranwala police have registered a case against two children accused of sexually assaulting their seven-year-old cousin.

Police said they were waiting for the report of a chemical examination at a laboratory in Lahore to proceed in the matter.
