The attackers arrived aboard pick-up trucks and motorcycles and fired rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles at a check post in Peshikan.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Security forces in the province often come under attack from militants belonging to banned organisations, including the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Now ,It will be easy to realize by Pakistanis that bleeding India in Kashmir for the last 64 year is how much painful for we Indians .
The restraint of the Armed Forces of Pakistan is exemplary. The enemies of Pakistan want to provoke them. They want that military should launch a full scale operation so that their claim could be verified. They want that collateral damage should increase so that they can obtain political mileage. Restrain is an answer however intelligence operations should be augmented. The initiative should not be lost and the terrorists should be put back on defensive. Media and Judiciary instead of making news should understand the gravity of the situation and have mercy on the general public of Balochistan who are victim of the terrorists groups and their ruthless and destructive ideologies.
@Naveed Alam Khattak: Good job turning the issue into a joke. Their families will love you for it.
@Abbas Ahmad
Typical stereotype response coming from a "liberal" Pakistani. No more operation against terrorists since they have only picked up because they of some "injustices". Which injustice in this world has given them the right to kill anyone at will. Which injustice allows them to kill teachers, labors, mine workers, security personnel. And if they ave picked arms due to those so called injustices then why don't they pick up a gun and kill Harbiyar Marri living in UK since he was a provincial minister and part of the same system that did injustices to Baloch.
And it is only because of injustices that they are killing people then TTP terrorism is also justified since they are killing people in suicide attacks because there family is being bombed by a drone attack.
Army and government has to work this out ....use table talk and force to protect Pakistan
@bilal: Why isn't the defense establishment resigning when they can’t handle the situation ?
What is this going on? How?Why our security forces cannot control the situation?
@clean: Just proves that the entire nuclear power projection has become a chimera for pakistan.
@TightBanian: Now this is too much. Are they fighting for a new country? Could they have removed the grip of the Brits.? Never. Sardars were slaves of the Brits. and wanted the people to be their slaves. The problem is the Government of Pakistan is not dealing them with a deft hand. Musharraf was good to a large extent. You show little leniency they will get on top of you.
Arrest all sardars put them behind bars and let the people of Balochistan rule. There will not be single person doing the dirty work of the sardars who are trying to blow up Pakistan. Arrest them, try them and hang them for treason.
Nawaz Sharif is playing a dirty role too by siding with the sardars. He must learn to side with the common poor people of Balochistan. In the hatred of Musharraf he doesn't care if Pakistan gets hurt. Sad.
Anyways – I love and enjoy when RAW is blamed for whatever happens in Pakistan. RAW is one of the best on earth that not one agent is caught and the people inside Pakistan are helping them.
@clean: Because my dear friend, one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist.
why are these terrorist are not eliminated if gov and military know their hideouts and know about foreign agencies destabilizing country then why not taking actions.we should be shame of our self calling our self nuclear power if it incompetent to protect own peoples. shame on us !
I insist "Placate the Baloch and sideline the sardars". People of Balochistan are with us but not the sardars of Balochistan. Time to placate the common poor Baloch and ignore the sardar unless he becomes another common Balochi and a patriotic Pakistani. No state in the world can tolerate state within a state and any extra-constitutional authority. High time we introduced land ceiling so that more people have access to land than few. Development will start only then when lands are freed from sardars. Who gave them our national resources to them? The Brits. so take it back.
@Mishra: We would love to offer our full solidarity and support to our Kashmiri brothers. Northeast India naxalites, Khalistani Sikhs, Ajmal Kasab etc.
@Zaikam: Syrian Government is doing exactly what you have suggested and Pakistan's foreign office is short of condemning the killing of Syrian officials by rebels and only abstained from voting in the UN. Pakistan has to face Baluchistan Libration Army funded by Arab friends and Syria has "Free Syria Army" funded by Arab friends.
We would love to offer our full solidarity and support to our baluch brothers.
@TightBanian: BLA who are actually acting on behalf of RAW & CIA. They are getting help from these two terrorists organizations and they are killing innocent pakistanis and we are playing in their hands either in the form of TTP or BLA.
As usual, people completely ignorant and clueless about situation in Balochistan are asking for more military operations. Its so sad..
Balochistan problem is internal, its a 64 year episode of tyranny. If equal rights were provided to Baloch then they would have been as better Pakistanis as others but the injustices that they have faced over the years has compelled them to carry out such attacks..
@Pakistani: Who do you think is responsible for the bullet-riddled bodies in Balochistan?
why the government is not resigning when they can’t handle the situation.
Gawader is an open area and the aerial surveillance is much easier there then in KP yet these BLA militants able to flee there easily all the time. It just depicts how incompetent our security agencies are. Easy sitting ducks target for these militants.
@Enlightened: Because Military cannot take action against these terrorists as So called Human Rights Organizations will complain about them and also the Victim card will come into play by Baloch leaders.
@Enlightened
What can you expect when the terrorists have sympathizers and security forces aren't given permission to take action these terrorists.
Its ironical that more security personnel are getting killed than the terrorists. The militants appear to be motivated than the military which is not a good sign.
