The government has authorised union councils (UC) to launch or complete development schemes costing up to Rs150,000.


The Local Government Department issued a notification in this regard after an amendment in Punjab Union Administrations Works Rules 2002.

Each union council will be authorised to float tenders and complete development schemes and projects worth upto Rs150,000 at the local level of which prior approval will be given by the UC project committee.

The committee will be convened by the union nazim while the naib union nazim, union secretary and three councillors, including a woman councillor will be its members.
