LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday fined the Zarai Taraqqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) president Rs10,000 for not complying with a court order. A private company had filed a contempt petition against the ZTBL president, Ms Roohi Raees. The petitioner submitted that the court had directed the bank to return to the petitioner original documents and possession of a piece of land but the bank hadn’t done so. On Thursday, Raees who had been summoned by the Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial apologised and promised that the petitioner’s grievance will be addressed soon. The chief justice accepted her apology but ordered the bank chief to pay Rs10,000 as fine for delaying implementation of the court’s order. The respondent has been ordered to submit a compliance report at the next hearing, which is scheduled for July 27.
