Apna ghar scheme: ‘Rs156m spent on project so far’

BAHAWALPUR: Member of National Assembly Baligur Rehman said on Monday that Rs156.7 million of the Rs366.1 million allocated for the Apna Ghar, Apna Bagh project was spent in the fiscal year ending in June 2012. He said homeless people in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur divisions will get two-kanal plots under the project. He said people in two Yazman villages had already received plots in the first phase. The project will continue till 2014-15. He said Rs9 million of the Rs22 million allocated for a kitchen gardening project have been spent till June. Another Rs10 million will be spent this year. He said a rice research centre was being established in Bahwalnagar at a cost of over Rs150 million. He said a water treatment project was being completed in Rahim Yar Khan and Hafizabad at a cost of Rs48.3 million. He said Rs29.1 million have already been spent on the project and another Rs11.3 million would be spent this year.
