Snooker: Majid bounces back in U21 event

Cueist registers emphatic win in world championship.

KARACHI: Pakistan cueist Mohammad Majid bounced back to chalk up an emphatic 4-1 win against Belgium’s Alvyn Depoorter in the IBSF World U21 Snooker Championship match being played in Wuxi, China.

Majid was thrashed by China’s Zhu Yinghui, who won 4-0 on Sunday, but the 18-year-old remained focused to produce a good show as he won with scores of 55-26, 60-49, 76-11, 12-60, 84-45.

Majid has now won three out of his four group matches and keeps alive his hopes of progressing to the next round.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Hunain Amir was beaten by China’s Lu Ning, who struck big breaks during the match, eventually winning with frame scores of 103-0, 86-36, 99-7, 75-43.
