ISLAMABAD: A teenage girl was found hanged from a ceiling fan in her house on Sunday. Her body was shifted to hospital where doctors officially confirmed her death, the police said. The Shehzad Town police said the father of 15-year-old Diyar Khan, a resident of Pindorian, refused to disclose any reason for her suicide, saying it was a personal matter. The body was handed over to the family for burial without conducting a postmortem. The police said the family obtained permission from the deputy commissioner to waive the autopsy. The external postmortem had already confirmed that the girl died of strangulation. The Shehzad town police said they would investigate the girl’s death if directed to do so by a magistrate. The family of the girl will have to appear before a magistrate for their statements on the death of the girl and will have to explain the circumstances under which she committed suicide, said the police. “If the magistrate is convinced that it was a suicide and accepts the family’s request to waive criminal investigations, there won’t be any,” said a police official, adding that the police would investigate if the magistrate suspects that the girl was murdered.
