RAWALPINDI:

Three robbers shot dead a man and injured another for putting up resistance and took away Rs450,000 from them at Dhoke Mustaqeem near Westridge on Thursday.

The robbery took place at about 4:45pm, according to witnesses. The muggers, on a bike, intercepted 47-year-old Ghulam Mustafa and 40-year-old Tanveer, who were heading back home in a taxi after having exchanged foreign currency from a money changer in Saddar.

The two resisted when the muggers tried to snatch the money. The suspects shot both and left the scene while firing in the air to keep the passersby from stopping them, witnesses said. Both were taken to the DHQ Hospital, where Mustafa was pronounced dead.
