Akhtar Gorchani appointed new DG IB

KARACHI: Additional IG Karachi Akhtar Hussain Gorchani has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Intelligence Bureau (IB).

A notification has been sent in this regard and Gorchani will assume charge of his new post from tomorrow.

Aftab Sultan was earlier holding the post, and has now been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

The federal government had taken this decision on July 4 but the delay was caused due to the posting of former DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Fayyaz Ahmad Leghari as IG Police Sindh, said sources.

According to sources, either DIG Iqbal Mehmood or Additional IG CID Ghulam Shabbir Sheikh will be the new chief of the Karachi police.
