Kidnapping case: Policeman, two others get death term

ABBOTABAD: A police sub-inspector and two co-accused were awarded death sentence by the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) here on Monday.

The court handed down the capital punishment to the accused in the kidnapping for ransom and murder case of Yawar Salim advocate, a local landlord, who had been kidnapped from his farmhouse in Sikandarpur on August 24, 2010. Ali Asghar, a serving sub-inspector of Haripur police, was arrested on September 26 for kidnapping Salim for Rs20 million in ransom.

He along with nine accomplices murdered Salim after receiving Rs3.6 million from the victim’s family. Upon identification by the accused, the police found the mutilated body of the victim in Tarbela Dam.
