SUKKUR:

Fed up with the soaring crime rate in Mirpur Mathelo, several residents as well as political and social activists staged a demonstration on Monday and demanded a crackdown on drug and gambling dens and sacking of police officials who were sheltering the criminals.

Activists and supporters from Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaaz, Sindh Taraqi Party, Sindh United Party and Pakistan Peoples Party-Shaheed Bhutto took part in the rally which was led by Kamal Mahar and Fakir Ramzan Kalwar. The protest began from Clock Tower Chowk and ended at Shahi Bazaar Chowk, where a demonstration was staged. The leaders said that the citizens are helpless as the police is supporting criminals and are not cracking down on drug dens, brothels, and gambling dens.
