The Punjab Assembly’s standing committee on local government and rural development would examine a draft of the Punjab Local Government Bill 2012 on Tuesday (today). The draft is meant to replace the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001. An official said it is very nearly a carbon copy of the Local Government Ordinance 1979.
The official told The Express Tribune said that the new draft bill empowered the provincial government to act against the local bodies.
