Killings and arrests: Five men shot dead, police arrest five suspects

Bodies of three men were found in different areas of the city.

At least two men were killed in separate acts of violence on Friday and the bodies of three others were found in different areas of the city.


A man was gunned down near his house in Jahanabad, within the jurisdiction of the Pak Colony police station. SHO Abdul Moeed said the victim, identified as 25-year-old Sajid Brohi, was on the way to a garment factory where he worked when two armed men intercepted and shot him in the head.

SHO Moeed said that the initial investigation has led law enforcers to believe that the victim was killed by gangsters In an unrelated incident, a 24-year-old man, identified as Imran, was gunned down by two armed men on a motorcycle as he was working in his puncture shop in Buffer Zone, said the Taimuria police.

SHO Sajid Javed said that the initial investigation has led law enforcers to believe that the victim was killed over personal enmity.

A young man, identified as 27-year-old Athar Omar, succumbed to bullet injuries as he was being treated at Civil Hospital.

Three people, identified as Irshad, Mohammad Jan and Rashid Ghaffar, were shot and wounded in separate incidents within the jurisdiction of the Jackson, Pirabad and Manghopir police station, respectively.

Bodies found

The body of a man was found in Mawach Goth, within the jurisdiction of the Mauripur police station. Sub-inspector Mohammad Atif said that the victim, identified 26-year-old Dur Mohammad, belonged to a group associated with the Lyari gangsters. The officer said that victim was wanted by the police for various crimes and his own companions might have killed him.

The body of a young man, identified as 24-year-old Shahzad, was found in the bushes near Super Highway, said the Sohrab Goth police. DSP Iftikhar Lodhi added that the victim was kidnapped two day ago when he left his house in Jamshed Quarters to buy medicine for his wife. The victim’s body was wrapped in a blanket and his hands and legs were also tied. Another body was found in Ramswami, within the jurisdiction of Garden police station. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Junaid. SHO Athar Malik said that unidentified men had kidnapped Junaid from his denting and painting shop before killing him.

Arrests

Law enforcers conducted raids in the Singu Lane and Nawa Lane areas of Lyari and apprehended five alleged members of the Lyari gangster group.

The suspects were identified as Nasir Baloch, Faisal, Shahzad, Anwar Lasi and Arif Baloch. About four hand grenades, two Kalashnikovs and a TT pistol were also seized by law enforcers. A Rangers official said that the arrested suspects belonged to the Jabbar Langra group of Lyari gangsters.

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) suspended three officers for allegedly blackmailing shopkeepers and traders.
