Fertiliser: TCP to float urea import tender

TCP has floated an international tender for the import of 100,000 tons of urea to meet local demand

KARACHI: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has floated an international tender for the import of 100,000 tons of urea to meet local demand for the kharif season of 2012. According to the TCP, the tender will be opened on July 27, 2012 at its head office in the presence of bidders or their representatives. The bids have been invited from the pre-qualified foreign suppliers with TCP for supply of urea through worldwide sources on cost and freight basis subject to the terms and conditions specified in the tender documents. Bids for less than 50,000 tons will not be accepted and the total quantity of urea must reach the designated port in Pakistan in accordance with the shipment schedule given in the tender document. It may be noted that the TCP had awarded a contract for import of 100,000 tons of urea at $411.77 per ton to the Transammonia AG Switzerland on Tuesday.
