While claiming that India’s own non-state actors are involved in terrorist activities, Malik said, “I am not blaming India, I am clearing the situation.” He added that there was some technical fault in the Indian system.
India has alleged that Pakistan has been involved in terrorist activities several times which later proved to be wrong and affected bilateral ties, said Malik, adding that India should confirm first before blaming Pakistan.
An alleged key plotter in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, Sayeed Zabiuddin Ansari, was arrested by the Indian police earlier this week. India’s home minister said the suspect had provided information confirming Pakistani “state support” for the deadly assault.
Malik said that the information provided by India about Ansari is incomplete, and added that India should also explain why he has been released.
Sarabjeet or Sarjeet?
Malik clarified that the Interior ministry had not sent any summary to President Asif Ali Zardari for the release of Indian prisoner Sarabjeet Singh, as reported earlier by the media. He added that Sarabjeet Singh and Sarjeet Singh are two different Indian prisoners.
He added that Sarjeet’s death sentence was converted into life imprisonment by then president Ghulam Ishaque Khan. Sarjeet has completed his term and will be released in the next 48 hours, Malik said.
He further dispelled rumours about the army’s alleged role behind not releasing Sarabjeet and said that the army should not be dragged into everything.
He also advised the media to confirm news before publishing them and to base their reports on facts.

@James: Since when each word of Abu Hamza became a sacrosanct?why is his opinion being given so much importance now?just because he says,it becomes true?I admit India is pretty confident about the fact that it is INDEED ISI behind 26/11,so why not publish the evidences and show it to the world to see? Just because a terrorist says sth,you really think an officer should be investigated on basis of mere speculations?

This is not the new statement from Indian government because the most important question rises here that did ever India provide to Pakistan any solid evidences about the involvement of Pakistani intelligence agencies in any mishaps or any terror activities in India?
@FutureofPak: The difference is that our Govt does not lie to us as frequently as the Pakistani Govt.We have a very active opposition who will tear the particular minister'statement to shreds.Of course when a minister proclaims his innocence it is taken with a pinch of salt
@Abba Ji:
I don't know how naxalism is relevant here but, last six months Maoist violence resulted in 31 civilian deaths. As unfortunate as it is, that pales in comparison to what TTP unleashes in Pak on a daily basis. Regards to punishment, you should Google the term "police encounter".
@Raj - USA: Many Indians, Americans and Israelis have been killed very brutally and the culprits, be they State or Non-State, shall be punished.
Haha I see? Well tell that to Afghans who are fighting Americans. Maybe they will listen to you. Or Tell it to Naxalites who are Killing Indians at a great rate every day. Have you captured and Punished them already? Go give threats to them. We are not neither interested or impressed by your threats. Just Grow Up even if you can not. Train that mind certain realities and one of them is that Muslims in this region are not going to disappear. Learn to live with them. You have No choice.
Remember Lockerbie bombing ? Look what happened to Libya and Gaddafi ? The writing on the wall is clear for Pakistan. Continued lying, bringing in Kashmir, Purohit, Thakerey or any irrelevant issues will only make matters worse for Pakistan. Many Indians, Americans and Israelis have been killed very brutally and the culprits, be they State or Non-State, shall be punished.
@WoW: There are levels to mental capailities and ones ability to seek truth and know it. When one lives in denial mode and thinks " they bought to US to knees" then it is altogether an animal level thinking. Just the drones have bought your nation to knees and pray that US army does not enter your courtyard. The results will be fireworks and later utter shame which is not new especially after the OBL incident last year.
@Pungi: you will not go back from India thats the problem and identity of aftermath will need DNA assistance....any other ideas
@pasha: you will not get that much time buddy with USA watching. The chances are you will be brutally dismantled to three parts by 2018... ya keep shouting
@Singh: And china is a country never existed. It was nehru who adventured In 1962. And it was Not China who defeated India and it was Not India Who laid arms before the red army. Its all fiction? Hahahaha...
@Pakistan politics: "they captured their own (Indian born) man and blaming shamelessly it on Pakistan without any proofs, seems a lot funny to me"
Indian born - yes. So was Musharraf. But he was working in Saudi Arabia on a Pakistani passport. Also Saudi ARabia deported him for a reason. They found that the proof provided by India was credible.
Gen. Niazi was not Pakistani citizen. That was also a made up lie & doctored picture in 1971. Mr Bhutto never visited Shimla to get 90 K POW. Bangladesh become independent in 1947 with India & Pakistan. All these facts are made up by big lies Indian to fool Pakistani ummah & world.
@Usman: Ask your governement to take it to ICC, if they are that sure.
ICC?? You mean International Cricket Council??? To do what?? play a T20 match with you???
For over a year Pakistan has claimed that this person Abu Hamza or Abu Jundal or Zabiuddin was a Pakistani citizen and now you disown him. He also has a passport issued in Pakistan. How was that possible without any intelligence department involvement. Do Pakistanis issue passoprts to anyone? Pakistan should stop lying and accept their mistakes and join the world community as a good citizen.
Anything from Dr Rahman Malik, itself is a joke. Pakistan has always denied in every matter but never proved that you are not involved or taking some firm actions on perpetrators.
@pasha: Pakistan a Nuclear Nation ? It can actually make the Bomb ? How come Iran, North Korea and Libya that received nuclear technology from Pakistan could not go nuclear. Iran is still around 20% enrichment level, even after 10 years.
@Kiran Kuppa: The policy to bleed with 1000 cuts has not yet been perfected. It is being perfected with daily bombings and killings throughout Pakistan by various groups that are in rigorous training.
osama is not dead, there is no proof. Also, he is in India. who says so, Mr Malik says so.....
Guys, here is a quote from some analysis about corruption in India. I am just saying, we don't want to start throwing blame around and accusing state actors in Pakistan when there are many problems in India: "As of December 2008, 120 of India's 523 parliament members were facing criminal charges.[15] Many of the biggest scandals since 2010 have involved very high levels of government, including Cabinet Ministers and Chief Ministers, such as in the 2G spectrum scam, the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam and the Adarsh Housing Society scam, Coal Mining Scam, mining scandal in Karnataka and cash for vote scam." The point I am making is, it is unfair for Indian commentators to make high and mighty claims trying to rubbish all institutions in Pakistan based solely on circumstantial and associative evidence. Using that approach, I can easily use these facts about government officials and claim that anything said by the Indian Home Minister recently is probably bogus based on the above track record generally of the Indian top brass. I won't do that however, as I feel we should not dig up dirt on each other, but instead work towards delivering justice. I sincerely believe that the common people of India and Pakistan want justice in their countries and they want each other to be prosperous and progressive. Working together on a 20-year plan will lead to unimaginable regional strength.
@Hema: Ask your governement to take it to ICC, if they are that sure.
@Pungi: Having Security lapses means we are open to anyone to come and kill our civilians ???? Thanks for candidly admitting that if we dint have good security you will send more Kasabs !!!
@Abrar R: Hamid Gul will be "Gul" once India starts war with Pakitan. And so will all the Pakistani heroes here in this discussion.
@pasha: Bring it on. Once for all this issue will be over.
@Mohammad Ali gaad: Your people come and kill our innocent ones and you expect us to be quite?? I feel so helpless and ashamed that my impotent government dont have guts to send in covert ops in your country to take out those who were involved and uprrot this menance once for all. yes I am thorughly dissapointed by my government;s impotency. I wished they learn something form MOSAD and create a response team like them.
@Pakistan politics: For any sane and reasonable person , there is enough proof. For you even a confession from a terrorist whose voice was matched as one of the handlers is not good enough. For you even if Hafeez Saeed confesses himself will not be enough. You guys are so blinded by your hatred towards India that you wont even agree with India if it calls "Day" a "Day".
Indians Crying babies...
Let the denial mode of Pakistanis begin. Despite 2 decades of proofs of ISI sponsorship of LeT, Pakistanis still like to live in denial and blame others for their sins.
@upkar gill:
There is already a wall on the whole indo-pak border. It is built by india, manned by india. Blame your own incompetence IF anyone you dislike crosses over.
Next thing we know Pakistan will be blamed by the indian government for mad-cow disease.
@Hema: Exactly, just as a kernel was involved in samjhota blasts, what's the guarantee there was NO state actor involved??India should publish the evidences rather than just claiming that so was involved in so activity it'd be better and convenient for people and Gov't of both sides to track the actual culprits, this blame game ain't gonna lead us nowhere.
@Ur awesomeness writes to me "teach us the way u tried to teach US that Osama bin laden was in Afghanistan. Well! Good luck!"
Are you kidding me? We knew Osama was in Pakistan from day 1.
I also know that Zawahiri, Omar are all hiding in your country. Why would we mislead USA abt Osama. We Indians know all ebt your shenanigans.
For the benefit of Mr. Malik, this is what happened today
"Addressing a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Chidambaram said the contention that the attacks were perpetrated by non-State players was no more valid. “I’m not pin-pointing to any particular agency, but there was state support,” he said." he did not name the ISI. Mr. Malik just let the cat out of the bag on his own.
Also,
With no prodding, and on his own, the Pakistan High Commissioner to India offered India counter-terrorism cooperation in the backdrop of the arrest of Zabiuddin Ansari,. Pakistan has renewed its offer of cooperation in this domain,” the High Commission said in a statement said without elaborating.
Ansari alias Abu Jindal, was arrested by Delhi Police after he was deported by Saudi Arabia on June 21. He had been staying there on a Pakistani passport
Pakistan's efforts to stop his extradition on the basis of his Pakistani passport apparently did not work.
Calm down guys. Why can't you realise the fact that we were together some time ago. Also we have corrup politicians on BOTH sides and these statements always comes from them not from us the common poor people. At the end of the day the thing which matters the most is what do common people think in both the countries and based on this forum I see a lot of venum in both sides which is very disappointing.
just like bramdad bugti confirmed India's role
@Jat Hey man great idea! We are dying for you to visit us. Even we are itching to sort out a few things with you guys. Just like we brought the US down to its knees in the Afghanistan we are going to subject you to same amazing FATA style hospitality when you visit us. So please please try to visit us soon.!!
Rarely do I agree with this man. But this time He is spot on!
Mr. Malik probably considers the rest of the world to be as gullible as the Pakistani awam. Wake up. The world has has enough of your games. It's fine if you play these games within your country Mr.advisor, but other countries have run out of patience with your games. If you can think, then please do so. Your closest friend and brotherly country chose to hand over this terrorist to India knowing fully well that it would implicate the ISI. Time is running out faster that you can imagine.
Denied the presence of Osama for years .How can the 26/11 attackers be conceded as present in Pakistan.Same denial
It was the seame denial with Osama.to expect change would be shocking!!
I can hear the ISI and army top brass having a good laugh reading the comments posted by the Pakistani awam. They must be telling themselves - "We could rule this country and take these people for a ride for another 60 years...Cheers!!! (clicking of glasses...and roaring laughter)"
mr. righty rightist
teach us the way u tried to teach US that Osama bin laden was in Afghanistan. Well! Good luck!
if a singing canary like Ajmal Qasab cant be considered an evidence who has been recorded on cctv pumping bullets into innocent civilians,no piece of rock hard solid evidence can convince Pakistanis about the collusion of their state agencies. But next time they should not take a moral high ground vis a vis Baluchistan and blame Indian involvement.you can shake a sleeping man out of his sleep, but you cant awake a person who is faking sleep.India should not expect any cooperation from Pakistani side and should embark upon annihilating these so called state or non state actors by our own means.
@futureofpak looks very bright!
@Jat How did Ajmal Kasab entered? Will try to follow the same route..!
@pasha: We are non-violent people, who is talking of war ?
@Pungi: Most welcome ! How are you going to come ? Via Dhaka ? We need to put welcome arches and all.
@Pungi writes "ET publish my comment in reply to an Indian @Jat I think we Pakistanis need to come to India to teach you how to investigate, cooperate, collect proves(finding Pakistani soap wrapper won’t work) and take responsibilities of security lapses before blaming anyone else…!"
ET publish my comment in reply to a Pakistani
hahahahaha!
Yep, we all heard the Osama was NOT living in Pakistan. Musharraf was 400% confident. Also, the US did not offer any proof that Osama was NOT in Abbottabad.
Yep -- continue to deny everything regardless of what is being given as proof and become a pariah nation.
Please also note that in the coming years, no proof will be given by anyone to Pakistan. That would compromise our intelligence gathering capability. Witness what happened to Dr. Afreedi.
It is getting to a point when the only way justice can be obtained in Pakistan is via drone strikes after being decided by an international tribune.
It isn't just India. It is USA too. And the evidence is more than sufficient to convict quite few state actors. Do you want to offer them to a International court?
Besides, is Mr. Malik still a minister? Or does a non-Pakistani advisor to PM speaks for Pakistan now? Has Pakistan run out of capable citizens?
I have spoken to many lawyers about this and apparently a lot of the evidence is really quite circumstancial and nothing is clear cut. So until the evidence is clear and unbiased, neither side should be making childish, relationship-damaging propaganda-based statements. It is extremely childish
ET publish my comment in reply to an Indian @Jat I think we Pakistanis need to come to India to teach you how to investigate, cooperate, collect proves(finding Pakistani soap wrapper won't work) and take responsibilities of security lapses before blaming anyone else...!
@mr. righty rightist: I think you just made that up. lol.
Did someone notice that whenever there is any improvement in relations between India/Pak, something like this shows up?
By the way can someone hypothesize what benefit would Pakistan have had even if it was involved? I don't think there is any logical reason to believe that the incident had the official blessings from Pakistani higher-ups. It just doesn't make sense to isolate oneself internationally.
A large majority of Indians are in full support of seeing a better, healthier, progressive Pakistan, as are a large majority of Pakistanis. There are countless surveys and interviews that provide this data over the past 10 years at least (the ones I have looked at). There are only a few conniving and deceitful top brass of the military and some politicians on both sides who are benefiting greatly from increased defense budgets, and these types of people continue to spew propaganda to maintain the "other" or "enemy" myth about both countries. Unfortunately, they are impressionable people on both sides of the border who fall for this rubbish, and end up writing blogs and forum posts hating on each other. These are an overwhelmingly small proportion of the overall population and I request that these types of people from both sides of the border read up more about the history of their people and think about the genuine regional benefit of a major alliance between India and Pakistan.
1.) Voice samples: sorry, the voice belongs to Raju Shrivastava. You want us to take action on that ?
2.) Testimony of Kasab and Abu Jundal aka Abu Hamza : C'mon, you believe those guys whose confessions were taken under death threats? Everyone knows Kasab is a Hindu from the language he speaks ! Reg, Jundal, how can you believe him ? Is there any evidence which can confirm the link between Jundal and ISI folks ? Did he actually say that ?
3.) Is there any evidence, where Abu Jundal actually directing the Mumbai attacks? Any evidence of Abu Jundal actually killing people ? Like he is shooting someone or throwing bombs ? Sorry, don’t show us video footages, they are not admissible in courts. Because, we know they are doctored.
4.) Remember, our courts are free and in fact, they are more free than the courts in US. And they don't believe in your DNA samples.
5.) Till you actually catch ISI officials in the act, whatever evidence you give, will not be accepted by us and our courts.
6.) It is exactly reckless talk like these that come in the way of peaceful resolution of problems like withdrawal Indian troops from Siachen, which is bigger priority now.
@Pakistan politics: "Who cares if Indians blame anyone without any evidence, that exhibits Cowardness " My God the hypocrisy is migraine forming.
An advisor to PM is a non state actor and is out of turn to speak as the correct person to speak on this matter is the Minister for Interior. Indian non state actor travelling on Pakistani passport should have been a concern but looks like no one is surprised and no investigation is launed. How come an Indian non state actor was in Karachi on 26/11? How was he able to train people on Pakistani soil? It speaks volume and denying for fifteen minutes fame as usual leads to low credibility and problems for future statements.
A few years back when Pakistan was accused of harbouring Haqqanis, most Pakistani would comment that is not true. Than last year, GHQ admitted it. 26/11 is going to have the same outcome.
@shahid You can recollect the state policy of 'bleed india with a thousand cuts'. What do you expect we would think with that kind of a policy. And finally, figure out who is bleeding now with a million cuts.
@Pakistani politics.
As I recall there were already two witnesses that have tied the ISI to the Mumbai massacre -- one captured in America and one captured in India. Yet Pakistan ignored that evidence and will undoubtedly ignore this 3rd witness as well. It is unlikely that any amt of evidence will change Pakistan's official position on this matter.
What kind of a stupid evidences they are talking about
Most recent track record of India
They issued the list of 19 most wanted terrorist, later the found they are wondering in India Then they pushed the panic button by telling that the terrorist had entered in India, later it was found that they were the poor security guard and shopkeepers in Hafeez center in Lahore.
Dont believe a word of a country that teach lies in history books, who ministers forge data to get grants from IMF, whose 80% parliamentarians have fake degrees, whose generals hide and falsify facts... the list goes on. I would rather trust international organizations on the fact than believe what people like malik blabber at home.
bhartis staged a 9/11 of their own and after failing to capitalize on it instantly they're finding ways to cash on the event now.
I cant figure out what do they want from ISI? a war? So in the words of Hamid gul, if war is what bharti establishment wants then whats the waiting for?
You can wake up someone who sleeps..
You cannot wake up someone who pretends to be asleep.
@shahid: @Pakistan politics:
The evidence has already been shared with your intelligence authorities and foreign affairs minister....You can contact them to verify whether its authentic or not...
Where is the proof ? Do you have a video showing Zardari discussing 26/11 attacks with Kasav and actually telling him what to do ? Even if you had, the video must be doctored. Anyway no video, audio evidense or confession is admissable in court of law here. Only 'concrete evidense".
Wake up and smell the coffee,Mr Rehman Malik..
Next thing, you will say that US blames ISI for hiding Osama without proof...
Even your ummah brother,Saudi Arabia decided to betray you by helping in extraditing a loyal mujahideen fighter...
At this rate, you will be alone in this world with everyone rejecting you
@jat We are two nuclear armed nations. Do you still think it will be the same result if we have a war. Hum dobaien ga tou tumhain lai kar dobaien gai.
@Ali: nothing new from the indian side. Oh!!!!!! You mean Pakistan's continuous denial is new....... Oh!!!!!!
nothing new from the indian side.
they captured their own (Indian born) man and blaming shamelessly it on Pakistan without any proofs, seems a lot funny to me
I have long held, any engagement with pakistan , is bound to fail. India should learn its lessons and act accordingly.
if massacre was done by Pakistan isi than first of all they should have evidence of it then they should start blaming Pakistan for. Every one knows that India always wants to fight with Pakistan without any reason and even they have done so for several times.
@Hema how do u know that The state was involved ? do u have any evidence ?
@Thoughtful: Big talk
@upkar gill: lol, what a hilarious comments are being posted by Indians
@upkar gill, no one's stopping you. do it
The chorus of denials begins. The world has lost patience.
build a wall on border and fill it with land mines and break off all diplomatic ties with pakistan, let them be in their land of pure.
We Indians have to once again enter Pakistan and rectify some technical faults. And this time we will make sure the repairs are permanent.
@Hema: who gave u the proofs, would u like to share it with us
@Hema: As u r passing a final judgement then please share us the proofs which u have personally got about ISI involvement, would love to read it
The louder you shout, the weaker you become.
We, indians are happy that, even after so much contradictions and problems, and even after having gutter political class, there is still hope.
Who cares if Indians blame anyone without any evidence, that exhibits Cowardness
The state was involved Mr.Malik. Truth is hard to hide for very long.
