Suicide: Woman jumps into Gilgit River

GILGIT: A woman committed suicide by jumping into Gilgit River from a bridge on Tuesday, according to police and family sources. Due to a significant amount of silt in the river, the body could not be recovered despite attempts by the police, volunteers and the woman’s relatives. The police said that the woman was a resident of Zulfiqarabad locality of Gilgit and had been mentally ill. The police interviewed the relatives but could not determine the cause of the suicide.
