Inferno: Warehouse reduced to ashes

KARACHI: A fire broke out in a chemical warehouse in Sector 6-B of New Karachi Industrial Area early Sunday morning. Fire brigade officials said that two fire tenders were dispatched to the site but six more and a snorkel were sent later to extinguish the blaze. The fire engulfed the building’s storehouse and later spread to other parts of the warehouse. The electricity supply to the storehouse was disconnected by the Karachi Electric Supply Company while the nearby buildings were also evacuated. Nobody was hurt in the fire, which was put out after a five-hour struggle. The fire brigade officials said that another fire had broken out at a warehouse storing wood supplies in the same area on Sunday, where materials worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes.
