Tobacco prices: Growers assured of cooperation, support

Meeting aimed to protect interests of local tobacco growers regarding issues of local growers.

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Pakistan Tobacco Board was held here on Monday, under the chairmanship of State Minister for Commerce Abbas Khan Afridi, to discuss tobacco prices and related matters. The meeting aimed to protect interests of local tobacco growers regarding fixation of prices and to resolve issues of local growers. In the meeting, problems and issues of stakeholders and possible remedial measures were discussed. Afridi ensured all stakeholders – especially growers – that the Ministry of Commerce will do everything to assist and promote local growers.  The meeting concluded with remarks that the Ministry of Commerce will ensure resolution of all issues and that the fixation of prices will be undertaken only after all stakeholders are taken on board.
