Addressing a convention by the All Pakistan Muttahida Student Organisation (APMSO) in four centres including Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi, Hussain congratulated MQM workers and APMSO for marking the 34th anniversary of the foundation of the student party.
He said that Pakistan today faces a number of enemies, from within and from outside. However, the rulers, instead of correcting their policies, and learning from their mistakes, were once again targeting the very foundations they stood on.
Hussain recounted the events which led to dissent among East Pakistanis and the eventual creation of Bangladesh, and said that back then, the voice of the people was suppressed using a number of tricks and tactics, and the very mistakes were being repeated today. He added that the same tactics were being used to suppress the voice and mandate given to the MQM. This is why, Hussain said, the MQM was being targeted in Karachi, and efforts were being made to divide the party.
He alleged that his opponents, and those criminal elements involved in target killings and kidnapping for ransom were being given money and arms to target his party and create a situation of lawlessness in the country.
However, he vowed that despite all efforts against them, the party, its workers will not relent.
He said that since its inception, a concerted effort against the MQM and the APMSO has been waged. However, despite all the negative propaganda against them, they were not only a reality, but had managed to expand to various cities and centres of Pakistan. He appealed to the government and institutions that MQM should be accepted as reality in Pakistan. That conspiracies against it should be stopped in the larger interest of the country.
He said that Pakistan faced a number of enemies, from bad relations with neighbours, to America. He said that the love affair that was the relation with the US too has turned out to be fake, and had been conditional. Now, the US nor the West considered Pakistan as a friend, rather view it as an enemy.
Fake revolutionaries
All those calling for revolution are fake, Hussain said adding that they did not even know the meaning of the word ‘revolution’.
Pointing out that he, and his party were ridiculed promoting the idea of revolution, today, all of those politicians call for revolution in their public speeches.
He alleged that those calling for revolution were mouthing hollow words and that they did not even know the meaning of the word.
Offering an example of real revolution, he said the APMSO had brought real revolution by creating the MQM.

@Amjad: Agreed........... but he will not get the incentives from there
34th Anniversary of APMSO and of this speech as well.
@Zillur Rahman: Altaf Bhai needs to go and help his own people in India first. Didn't he go to India and speak against the creation of Pakistan and say Muhajirs from India were wrong to move to Pakisan? The only one conspiring against Pakistan is Altaf himself. If he hates Pakistan and Pakistanis so much, why doesn't he just move to India?
@Concern1: By the way, the last time I checked, Karachi was still part of the Sindh province and its capital as well.
@Ameed Khan: The quota system is a bogey. Being from Karachi and having gone to a professional college, I can vouch for the fact that the vast majority of students in all the professional colleges have a Karachi domicile. In fact it is the rest of Sindh that is discriminated against as students from rural Sindh find it hard to get admission in these colleges that are owned by the Sindh government.
As far as jobs are concerned, I believe that approximately 7% of Pakistan's population has Urdu as its mother tongue, however the number of Mohajirs in government jobs vastly exceeds that number.
@Concern1: Is this is a Joke or what????. If they will go ahead then they will end up in Afghanistan not in Karachi which was not ahead but in the South. Actually many Urdu Speakers decided to go to Karachi because of their historical connections as Karachi was once a part of Bombay and at that time many Urdu Speakers choose to stay in Karachi before the creation of Pakistan and so many migrants who were Urdu Speakers decided to go to Karachi because of the connection of language but many choose to stay in Punjab as well and integrated overtime..
Altaf bhai, our first priority should be repatriation of the stranded Pakistanis (the so-called Biharis) in Bangladesh. These patriotic Pakistanis had stood by Pakistan even when it was abandoned by the less-than-patriotic military. The "Biharis" deserve better. Altaf bhai, please lend your support and voice to the repatriation of these luckless Pakistani patriots who have been left to rot in Bangladesh for the last 4 decades for no fault of their own.
Sorry to say this: almost all comments here are just so shallow ... No real issue, no depth, no proper reflection and consideration before writing ...
@OP: My dear friend Get your facts straight, majority of mohajirs migrated to Karachi due to it being pakistans capital city.
@John: Lol Like SS in the Nuremberg Rally..
Consparicy of the quota system in Sindh! Conspiracy which was lead by that black sheep called ZULFIQAR Mirza! Where is he hiding now? What happened to the evidence he present to Scotland yard?
What consipracies?.. Altaf Bhai... You are part of the govt...
@john the best thing is jokes and look who is talking of cospiracies
He did'nt say any thing about nationality(Mohajir), what he was saying that simply accept the mandate of the people. This is the very essence of democray, There are people who view provinces as nationality identity(Qomi wehdat), provinces are only the administrative units of the federation, like the divisions and districts are the administrative untis of provinces. No other party talk about the issues facing Urban sindh, more than 80% of our eductaed youth are facing problems in urban sindh due to unjust quota system in eductional institute to jobs quota. They are with MQM because it is the only party which voiced their concerned.
Last time I checked, MQM is the 'ruler' of Karachi...so what rulers and conspiracy theories are they talking about??? On a side note, he hitting out on the theme of revolution means the alliance between PTI and MQM is off the table, which I am certainly happy about. PTI, if possible, should try to fight it out on its own in Sindh (including Karachi).
Altaf Bhai is badly needed in Karachi, about time he came back and took control of situation here.
Who is conspiring against whom? MQM is part of the government and still wants to pretend as an opposition. MQM should stop showing crocodile tears and first decide where it belongs – ruling alliance or opposition!
The best thing about MQM jalsas is discipline.
Someones asking for attention.
Now this is uncalled for, as in recent years no ruler has dared challenge the MQM. No one knows what conspiracy he is talking about.
People in all the four major institutions of Pakistan 1)Parliament 2)Ruling Party 3)Judiciary 4)Military or Establishment all has explosive evidence, skeletons in the closet, dirty laundry to hide against each other. Please spare 180mil people of Pakistan & admit to the nation and let Pakistan move forward starting tomorrow.
Pakistani First... Mohajir/Sindhi, Muslim/Christian later..!!!
@Usman Chatta: If playing Muhajir card is the case then the people of Punjab should be the first one as My family was wiped out in Haryana during 1947 and they arrive in Pakistan with nothing as well and no one community can have the right to claim they were the only persecuted ones. Millions were killed in Punjab as well but now people have moved on and now they integrated with locals and now they dont say themselves mohajirs anymore. One should kept in mind that Many migrants in Punjab came from UP and now their second and third generations are known as Punjabis as well and they dont need to be differentiated anymore.
I appreciate that the Muhajirs have been sporadically discriminated against in the past but speaking in the context of today, they seemed to have developed an exaggerated victim mentality. When it comes to killings and extortion etc. the MQM is not one to lecture others- their policy of fighting violence with violence is part of the reason why Karachi is such a deeply divided and unsafe city.
