Four killed, at least two injured as two gangs clash near Al Asif Square

The two gangs of drug peddle­rs exchan­ged heavy fire.

KARACHI: An intense exchange of fire between two gangs at Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth early Saturday morning left at least four people dead and two injured, Express News reported.

According to Express News correspondent Shahab Salman, tensions were on a high in the area due to the conflict between the two groups and early Saturday morning the Square erupted with sounds of gunfire. Salman said that the exchange of fire lasted for more than 10 minutes.

The dead bodies had been shifted to a nearby hospital.

The correspondent said that police had so far gathered details of the incident through its informants, but has not been able to reach the spot. Salman said that police has previously come under concerted attacks in the area, with one officer being killed and three injured two months ago. He said the local police station has requested additional forces to be deputed to the area to bring the situation under control.

Police said that the exchange of fire took place between two groups of drug peddlers.

One of those killed was identified as Irshad Mehsud, while another man was also believed to be part of the Mehsud clan. The other two dead were believed to be Afghans. They were being shifted to Jinnah hospital.

Muslims do not kill Muslims. This news must be misleading. The only good thing is in this case they killed each other rather than innocent civilians.
