Staying competitive: ‘UAF continuously revises courses’

University has introduced 100 new courses in four years: VC.

FAISALABAD: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) has revised 1,500 courses in four years to make them stay relevant to the international market, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said on Friday.

The VC was addressing a workshop on curriculum development arranged by the  Institute of Rural Home Economics and National Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFSAT).

Dr Khan said the university had started 100 new courses in various disciplines during this period.

He said that the UAF was offering 45 bachelor’s level degrees, 40 master’s level and 35 PhD programmes. He said the chief minister had announced that a Home Economics Institute would be set up in Ghulam Muhammadabad Colony.

“In the process of revising the curriculum, we… focus on theoretical as well as practical work to impart skills to match the market requirements,” the VC said.

NIFSAT Director General Dr Faqir Anjum also spoke at the event. He hoped that the participants of the workshop would use experts’ advice and recommendations to improve curricula that will later be presented before the Academic Council.

Dr Shaheen Pervez and Dr Tahira Rana from the College of Home Economics, Lahore, Memoona Khan from the Government Post Graduate Women College, Rawalpindi, and Dr Ayesha Saddiq, the acting director of the Institute of Rural Home Economics, also spoke at the event.
