Finding justice: Policeman testifies in kidnapping case

The case implicates three men and a woman.

KARACHI: A police officer who had arrested one of the men who had absconded in a 2009 kidnapping case in Sohrab Goth testified in the Anti-Terrorism Court-III on Thursday. The case implicates three men and a woman. Dilbar Hussain was the man who absconded, but the others arrested during the raid to recover the kidnapped person were Asghar Ali, Fateh Mohammad and Yasmin, whose alias is listed as ‘Madam’. The four are accused on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder, common intent and using force to prevent public servants from doing their duty, based on the First Information Reports 207/2009 and 83/2009. The 22-year-old victim was reportedly kidnapped from the Hyderi bus stop in North Nazimabad in 2009. The kidnappers had asked his father to pay Rs20 million as ransom. On March 28, 2009, the Sohrab Goth police raided the kidnappers’ hideout and rescued the victim. They arrested Ali, Mohammad and Yasmin, while Dilbar Hussain was arrested later.
