Ransacking Mepco offices: 538 people charged, 15 arrested

BAHAWALPUR: As many as 15 people were arrested on Wednesday as a case was registered against 38 named and 500 unidentified people for vandaling three Mepco offices and a grid station on Tuesday. SHO Noor Nawaz said three FIRs were registered on the complaint of a Mepco XEN and an SDO. Mepco officials said their record had been destroyed and the grid station building had been badly damaged by the protestors in Hasilpur. Also on Wednesday, protesting traders and residents blocked traffic at Chowk Fawara in Bahawalpur for over an hour. They said that a transformer had gone out of order the earlier night and had not been repaired and replaced 24 hours after it broke down.
