LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court on Thursday directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to write to the Bangladeshi government asking them to find a girl allegedly kidnapped from Lahore by her Bangladeshi father.

The court had first asked the ministry to do so some 11 months ago. Justice Tariq Masood, taking notice of the ministry’s non compliance with the court’s orders, remarked that if those in charge could not run the ministry, they should go home.

Petitioner Kausar Sadiq submitted that she had married Aminul Haq in 2006 and they had a baby girl in 2007.

She said that they had lived in both Bangladesh and Pakistan.

She said that in 2011, Haq took their daughter Shabnam to Dhaka ostensibly to meet her paternal grandparents, but never returned or contacted her again.

She said she had written to the Supreme Courts of Pakistan and Bangladesh, and to the police chief in Dhaka, but received no help. She asked the court to help recover her daughter.
