KARACHI:

Yet another case implicating the head of the banned Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) Uzair Jan Baloch as well as several other men allegedly involved in the violence in Karachi may not go through.

On Thursday, three cases (First Information Reports 30/2012, 69/2012 and 67/2012) at the Anti-Terrorism Court III were scheduled for the execution of non-bailable warrants. Since it is unlikely that the men will be arrested, the next stage will be for the investigating officers to testify that they could not arrest the men and for the files to be made ‘dormant’.

Uzair Jan Baloch, Umar Kachi, Amjad Baloch, Imran Usmani, Rashid Bengali, Sikandar alias KESC and Hasan alias Pappu Kana were named in the FIR 69/2012, which contains charges of murder, attempted murder, abetment and causing damage to people or of property as well as charges of violating the Explosives Act. On Tuesday, the Napier Road police told the court that it had not been able to trace Uzair Jan or Umer Kachi in two other cases.
