Forgotten: FDE Teachers await upgradation
ISLAMABAD:
College teachers in different Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) institutes expressed reservations over the ‘pick and choose’ policy in pay scale upgradation. The decision to upgrade teachers was announced in2010, but only schoolteachers have been upgraded thus far while around 700 federal government institute teachers and 1,300 from the model school set-up are still awaiting upgradation.
According to college teachers, Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) officials only invited teachers from model colleges and federal government institutions to the recent Thanksgiving Ceremony.
Talking to APP, Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) President Professor Zahid Ali Shah said, “When schoolteachers were celebrating their upgradation at the Convention Centre, college teachers were kept far away and treated like stepchildren.”
