KARACHI:

Four men escaped from a Malir court after their bail was rejected on Tuesday.

Justice Muhammad Iqbal Ahmed Khwaja of the first additional and sessions court was hearing the request for bail for Muhammad Sharif and his three sons, Manzoor, Faisal and Waheed. They are accused of shooting and injuring his former daughter-in-law, Tahira, over property and the marriage of her daughter against the will of her grandparents.

Tahira nee Qadeer had married Sharif’s son Hanif 20 years ago but the marriage ended in divorce in 2010. According to Tahira’s lawyer, Muhammad Sarwar Thebo, the accused men appeared in court where the judge felt that they were not entitled to bail. They escaped after the decision was announced by simply walking out of the room and leaving the premises.
