"I have the right to live my life with respect," said the deputy AG. "That is why I am resigning and appearing in court as a common lawyer."
The apex court - displeased with the absence of the defence secretary, interior secretary and the prime minister’s prinicipal secretary who had been summoned earlier - asked the deputy AG whether they had been presented with the court’s order or not.
Deputy AG Sikander replied that he had not received a copy of the court’s order. Dissatisfied with the answer, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered him to give a written statement to the court, stating that he was unable to satisfy the court’s orders.
The deputy AG requested the court to give him some time, at least a day but the court refused. Unable to satisfy the court, he walked out saying he would return in five minutes as ‘Advocate’ instead of ‘Deputy AG’ Malik Sikander.
The court did not comment on his behaviour.
Of those summoned yesterday, only the governor of Balochistan’s principal secretary appeared before the court.

The PCO CJ has himself said in court that has been responsible for the disappearances of civilians. He has called them arsonists and murderers. Now all of a sudden he is harsh, insulting only to current civilian officials and not the establishment. Even though the AG was right but his reaction "in the court" would have been contempt of court in any other country. Contempt of court cases are rare and confined to the bad behavior in the court not the free speech. No high judiciary argues with the parties in the court. The prosecution and defense argue and the judges speak with their verdicts not outbursts and political speeches.
@FF: Are you out of your mind? He resigned as a protest against the behavior of the court not in shame...
Mr Chief for God sake do not humiliate our brave Security/intelligence officials in courts this will demoralize them and on this INDIA will be very happy
@ishtiaer hussain: Dear Friend you know missing persons family appear before the Supreme court Quetta bench and stated their loved ones story, It is first time chief Justice of Pakistan is hearing the cases of missing persons after five years in Bench one. you are talking about those it is their own responsibility to appear before the court and tell their near and dear ones stories so that chief justice will take action against those, Then their are chances that they can get justice.
@Concerned: @FF: Mister! you sound clueless... he resigned in protest.
Power corrupts. Unfortunately Mr. CJ is having a lot of power which leading him to make all this mess. He need to have self analysis and correct his path. Otherwise people who brought him back same will stop him to enter in courts again.
@Concerned: If your statement is correct then why did the Turkish PM call on Galani. Why did you not protest on the streets and tell Turkish PM about it.
@ishtiaer hussain: Like Hafiz Saeed and similar other terrorists, there is ALWAYS no evidence.
If Mr. Chief Justice is unable to get his decisions implemented, he should definitely resign in Protest. Enough is Enough Mr. CJ. Leave Now.
Mr Malik Sikander Khan had been the Speaker of Balochistan Assembly, a provincial Ombudsman and a senior leader in the hierarchy of JUI (F). In first place he should not have accepted the junior job of DAG. His advocacy is not as strong as are his political links. He has taken a good decision and vacated a place for some one who could do better. Maulana Fazal ur Rehman must not be happy with the court and will be turning in his (G) rave.
This is getting messy day by day - you cannot confront security agencies after their 65 years 'no questions asked' policy.
CJ will be surprised What forms of contempt of courts are on their way.
Respect and authority is commanded, not demanded.
The deputy AG by resigning has exhibited integerity and self-respect more than the Pak PM who has not yet resigned despite being convicted by the highest court of the country.
Mr chaudhry is crossing all the limits. He is terrorising govt servants whom he considers some aliens NOW he can hope many such protests
PCO judges are taking suo moto notices of missing persons. But why are they not taking notice of terrorists who have ravaged our country? The terrorists of Lal Masjid are walking free and the officials are humiliated on daily basis in the courts. Mughal-e-Azam, King Iftikhar Chaudhry, needs to be shown the door.
At least someone knows when they are not welcome and resigns in shame. Hope he can teach the PM a lesson.
