Personal enmities: Policeman, spiritual healer gunned down

Thirty-two-year-old Aurangzaib was shot at and injured in Nazimabad.

KARACHI: Two people were killed while three others were injured in drive-by shootings around the city on Sunday.

A man identified as 55-year-old Tariq was shot dead in Orangi Town. The police claim that he worked as a driver for the Al-Khidmat Foundation and was a resident of Ghausia Iqbal Baloch Colony. SHO Matiullah said that Tariq was on his way out when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at him. He was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The SHO suspected that Tariq was killed over a personal enmity. A spiritual healer identified as Manzoor Faqir, 50, was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Maymar, said the Sohrab Goth police.

DSP Iftikar Lodhi said that three suspects barged into his house and killed him. He added that the healer was killed over a monetary dispute.

In an unrelated incident, a sub-inspector identified as Shahnawaz was injured when he was attacked by men in Orangi Town, said the Mominabad police. The SI worked with the Sindh Police special branch and was deployed at Central Jail, Karachi.

SHO Nasir Mehmood said that Shahnawaz was on his way home when men opened fire at him and shot him five times.

He was taken to Aga Khan University Hospital. An unidentified man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Baldia Town. He was taken to Civil Hospital. Thirty-two-year-old Aurangzaib was shot at and injured in Nazimabad.
