A consumer court on Saturday issued a notice to the proprietors of a Liberty Market shop for June 9 in a Rs500,000 damages suit for allegedly not delivering a wedding dress on time.
Petitioner Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali submitted that on August 13, 2011 he had paid the respondent Rs10,000 as an advance to stitch his son’s wedding clothes, the total cost of which was Rs45,000.
According to Ali, the respondents had assured him that the clothes would be delivered on September 25, 2011 but hadn’t done so.
He had then been given October 25, 2011 as the delivery date but the respondents again did not keep their word.
He claims they then “avoided” his calls.
He prayed the court to direct the respondents to pay him Rs250,000 for damaging his reputation and causing him mental torture, Rs200,000 in damages and compensation and Rs50,000 as legal expenditure.
The respondents could not be reached for a comment.
