I am not interested in becoming a politician, asserted renowned nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Saturday as he toured the Nazeer Hussain University in FB Area. “I was joking about joining politics at a recent event, and people took it seriously.”
The university was named after the father of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and was inaugurated this April. While speaking about the importance of attaining education, the nuclear scientist recalled the hardships he faced during his own student days.
He called upon the educated middle class to step forward to promote progress and development in the country. “There should be only [one] education system in the country, which would erase all class differences,” said Khan.
He also presented a solution to restore peace in the city. “Just make Rauf Siddiqui the home secretary.
The man is able to work all day long,” said Khan while referring to the MQM leader and the minister for trade and industry.
Siddiqui, who was also present on the occasion, said that the university would soon get a separate technology block, which would be spread over 15 acres.
