Kings no more part of the IPL

Delhi seal Punjab’s fate in 6-wicket win in the league.

Kings XI Punjab’s IPL campaign was brought to a rude end as Delhi Daredevils romped home to a comprehensive six-wicket win yesterday.

David Warner hit an explosive 79 off just 44 deliveries to make a mockery of Punjab’s 141-run total and when he was dismissed in the 13th over, the match was all but over. Delhi overhauled the target with 10 deliveries to spare and registered their 11th win in 16 games to sit top of the table.

Warner added 82 for the opening wicket and such was his dominance at the crease that Unmukt Chand contributed just 18 when the pair was separated in the ninth over. The Australian hit 10 fours and four maximums but was undone by Ryan Harris who finished with two for 19.

Earlier, Azhar Mahmood hit 36 and Siddharth Chitnis made 38 as Punjab recovered from being 20 for four to finish at a reasonable total.

They are still part of the IPL. They are out of contention for this years title. Title is misleading.

@Pinto -Azhar Mehmood was probabay one of the their best buy! They only started having a chance when he joined them after their initial losing streak and they got this close! He probabaly should have been sent up the order a bit more as a pinch hitter!
