Inquiry into the claims of a woman who said she was carrying twins found that she gave birth to a single baby. A 3-member committee at the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) was set up after a woman and her relatives protested that she gave birth to twins, one of whom was stolen.
Naseem Bibi’s relatives protested on Tuesday that one of the twins was missing and had been stolen from the hospital when the baby was handed over to the mother.
According to the report prepared by the committee, the woman carried only one baby. “Naseem’s family’s claim was based on an ultrasound done by a private nursing home,” the committee noted in its report. Scans at HFH revealed that she was carrying one baby and she was duly informed about it, stated the report.
HFH MS Dr Fiaz Ahmed said he was satisfied with the findings of the inquiry and had sent a copy of the report to the New Town police.
Sagheer Abbasi, Naseem’s husband, could not be reached for a comment.
