LAHORE: A delegation of lawyers led by former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jehangir on Monday called on PML-N president Nawaz Sharif. The appointment of a new chief election commissioner, formation of a caretaker government for the general elections and stability of democratic system were among the issues discussed. Sharif said that the PML-N did not want ‘hidden hands’ to intervene in the general elections. He said that the establishment of a non-controversial election commission was essential for holding fair and free elections. The lawyers invited Sharif to the All Parties Conference, being organised by the SCBA on May 26. He accepted the invitation.
