QUETTA: A police official died and three others were injured when a police vehicle on patrol was attacked with a remote controlled bomb on Qambrani Road in Quetta on Thursday. Talking to The Express Tribune, police official Sikandar Tareen said that unknown persons planted an explosive device on the roadside and detonated it, using a remote control device, as soon as a police mobile on patrol duty passed by. The explosion damaged the vehicle while injuring four police personnel inside the vehicle. The injured police personnel were moved to the nearby Bolan Medical College Teaching Hospital where one of the policemen, Mohammad Talah, was pronounced dead on arrival. “The target was the police patrol,” a senior investigation officer said, adding that the incident had links with the targeted killing of senior anti-terrorism police officer Shahnwaz Khan, who was shot dead two days ago near his residence in Satellite Town in Quetta.
