Lyari gang war: SSPs summoned over arrests
Shahid Babak was reportedly arrested on April 24 from Thatta in a big sweep by the CID police but the unit declared him as arrested later from Khamosh Colony and then from Mureed Goth in Karachi.His father Khair Muhammad has now filed a petition and is being represented by Salahuddin Gandapur.
The CID police is making different claims and Babak was taken into custody on the alleged charge of providing arms and ammunition to Lyari’s gangsters. His father now fears for his life, Gandapur submitted, requesting the court to look into the circumstances of the alleged arrest and declare it illegal.
The CID police’s claims of arresting three Balochistan Liberation Army members also became controversial as they were already on a list of persons who went missing from Balochistan. SSP Chaudhry Aslam was embroiled in a court case in 2007 and sacked as the chief of the Lyari Task Force over allegations of killing a peasant Rasool Bux Brohi but fobbing it off as having nabbed a notorious dacoit, Mashooq Brohi.

SSP Aslam is a brave officer. It would be travesty if the courts meddle in the name of justice and let criminals go. After all, among hundreds of thousands of residents, there have been a few culprits which made Lyari a heaven for criminals.
@Vishnu Dutta: He is the a senior officer of CID, Central Intelligence Department of Police, so they don' wear any uniform.
Why was he never in his uniform throughout the operation and why was he carrying a gun in hand all the time. i know some people have pressing need to look macho but he could have done it better while following the professional etiquette.
these failed miserably in lyari - thousands citizens suffered due to their acts 'unlawful' these must be taken to task - a un police, like in haiti, be brought to bring peace in karachi, no need of quoting this/that...for human peace think it............
He should be overseeing intermediate examination in Karachi. He would straighten those students out in a week.
I actually like Mr Chaudhry Aslam.
He should be punished severely so that nobody dare to kill innocent people in the name of operation. He is worse than dacoits, he is mass murderer.
