ISLAMABAD:

The sprouting up of new restaurants has indeed broadened up choices for food enthusiasts in the capital. The latest addition to the scene, Zaffrano’s Lounge and Restaurant opened in F-11 Markaz here on Sunday.

While the restaurant boasts of continental cuisine, including some delectable French and Italian entrees, seafood remains its ace card. A chef has been hired from the seafood restaurant Okra in Karachi, ensuring that lobster is a specialty. “Although I’d recommend everything on the menu but our seafood is probably the best in the city,” said the restaurant owner Muneeb Zahid while talking to The Express Tribune.

The restaurant comes as a surprise. While many expected a standard décor and menu, Zaffrano’s design is a refreshing break from the norm. The interior with dark wood paneling, fresh green plants and terracotta-lined tiles, gives an almost botanical feel.

The ambience is cozy with low-lounge sofas and tables. The lighting is also comfortable.

For those who prefer taking in the Islamabad breeze, an outdoor arrangement with cozy tables placed strategically ensure space. While talking to The Express Tribune, architect and interior designer of the restaurant, Fawad Sohail Abbasi said that the idea behind the design was to give a spacious outdoor feel. “Even inside we’ve created a relaxed lounge effect instead of giving it a typical restaurant look,” he said.

At the event, guests were served hors d’oeuvres and fruit smoothies. “The décor is striking, and the smoothies were perfect,” said Sabiha Askari, a guest. Meanwhile, famous model Natasha (Natty) considered the place to be a “bold yet incredibly needed” venture.

The launch was orgnaised by Rezz of Rezz Events, who dubbed the location an excellent choice as F-11 is now the “new Islamabad” with the fast growth of shops, offices and eateries in the locality.
